I agree. Like in your example, Bob did ignore Steve because Earl posted on his thread..but then again, Steve did help Bob, and Bob did thank him. But I see what you mean, like some people might get excited that a mod is on their thread and go all out to thank them (even if they said something not too helpful like in the example)..when a regular member helped them even more and all they get is a simple 'thanks'...which is rude. Bottom line; being ignored isn't fun!
Even when I was a GC people would ignore me until someone in blue came along. Heck, even now people ignore me!
But really, i don't see that too often. I think people appreciate a good, well thought out answer no matter who gives it. Especially if it is written in a polite and correctly spelled/gramatically correct manner.

i know the feeling of being ignored on some threads. it has happened a few times and it does hurt, though it was not because a mod posted after (or before) me. i just felt a little sad to be left out.
i really try to refer back to each person who posts on a thread i make (though they are not that many) but i want every person to feel that they mattered to me. if they took the time to post, i want to recognize them.
I have seen some of this, but, it is an issue with people ignoring other people for the mods.
Let's look at this example I will make up.
Ok, so Bob, asked a question about something. Steve answered a VERY well thought-out answer.
Bob, says, thanks.
Earl, comes by and says: Yes, Steve pretty much filled you in.
Bob comes by again and quotes his thing.."OMG! Earl, you posted on my thread! I can't believe you came by my thread, and you are so right!! Thank you so so much!!!"
Bob, was totally ignoring Steve.
Now back to real life.
I quote people like if 4 people posted and a mod/owner is like 2nd post, I have to get done with the first post, even if it is helpful or not.
