I think it's a great idea to make an extra special effort to check lonely threads out! Though i'm not for posting when someone doesn't have anything meaningful to contribute, i think everyone can find something encouraging to say!
I totally agree - if somebody posts "hi I'm bored" I'm not exactly going to contribute - because really that is just bumping a fluff thread. But I know from personal experience how frustrating it is when you post a question or poll that you actually really want or need others opinions on and it gets quickly pushed to the bottom of the more popular threads and dissapears. This is a fabulous idea - lets all spread the posting love!!!
Wonderful idea. Especially in sections like Open Mike, Our Member's Creations and WI Rules and suggestions, you can always find a great hread wiht no replies buried somewhere. Some people are really eager to get a post, and I think something like this would make their day.
This is a great idea but the motivation to do this should never be so reputation points will increase. In fact thinking about rep points when we post isn't really the point of rep points. We should strive to be nice and helpful because its a good thing to do, not because we will get something out of it. WI has removed rep points in the past I would sure hate for that to happen again.
I want to make a suggestion that I think might work. What if we take the time (every day that we log in to WI) to read at least two threads that don't have many replies (and have been sitting there for five days or so)? Just think about it. It would make the thread owner happy, and it would make you proud about yourself for making someone's day.
If we do this, there would be less people that think they made their thread for nothing. So, do you think that this would work?
I think that is a fabulous idea! I am still pretty new here and i know what you are talking about! It is kinda sad when you make a post and not many people respond to it, yet you see that lots of people have viewed the thread and chose not to post a comment. I try to post as much as I can, and even if I don't understand it, I still try to be positive, but I know that I can do more. Thank you for this thread, it is a great reminder to be thoughtful of others!
Great Job! I love the idea. It's so original. I love it! Rep for you. I think that it would make a good impression on the other. I think that if everyone did this there wouldn't be so many closed threads.
