Default I need help from a computer techie

I have a computer at work with a Linux system on it and I use Firefox as my browser. I have been trying for months to get Flash Player on it but because I have no idea how Linux works I can not follow the instructions on how to download it.

??? Here is the link to the instructions...

http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/downl...sion=Netscape4

Could any techie out there translate this into terms that a diehard Windows user could understand? I have tried support and I still can not get the help I need.

I guess there are no computer techies out there LOL

Thanks anyway

i have a linux server at my work, and use both IE and firefox for browsers. i haven't had any trouble with the flash player install or updates.

i would suggest you try this link though:
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/downl...ShockwaveFlash

because i don't think your linux platform should matter. but i am not a total expert on this.

if that doesn't work, it may actually be your network firewall that is the problem.

just my opinion...

My problem is that I don't know HOW to download it. They tell me to do things that I do not understand...I so do not like Linux...give me good old, easy to use, Windows anyday.

well, if you click on that link and scroll down the page just a little bit, there's a button for install now. just click that and say run or yes to whatever prompts you get. it's a safe link, it's the one i used.

Yes, I understand that butafter I click "download" I have to do other things and I don't understand the terms (the words in red)...
  1. Click the "Download .tar.gz" link. A dialog box will appear asking you where to save the file.
  2. Save the .tar.gz file to your desktop and wait for the file to download completely.
  3. Unpackage the file. A directory called install_flash_player_9_linux will be created.
  4. In terminal, navigate to this directory and type ./flashplayer-installer to run the installer. Click Enter. The installer will instruct you to shut down your browser(s).
  5. Once the installation is complete, the plug-in will be installed in your Mozilla browser. To verify, launch Mozilla and choose Help > About Plug-ins from the browser menu.
