Default Re: Graphics Shop Jumping

Hi - As a former customer of graphics shops, I agree that it is unfair to go to multiple shops with the same request. That being said, I find all of the rules regarding how long you use something unfair too. Alot of shop owners are not happy doing re-dos, and get frustrated if you ask for something to be tweaked(unlike emmlag96). If I find something that appeals to me more(or there is a contest), I would like to be able to change. So now I do my own graphics. I am sorry people are jumping threads - hope they stop!

I personally do think it's rude to go off your shop with rules. It would be like the school saying you can't chew bubblegum at home. Remember, there are at least two sides to every story, and every one is reasonable in their own way.

You both present valid points:
Sometimes, individuals are not pleased with their results at a graphics thread. Under such a circumstance, it is reasonable to seek service at a different shop. However, I think a couple rules of ediquette would apply: without a doubt, you are not obligated to use the graphic if you aren't pleased. But out of curtosy to the maker, first grant them the opportunity to fix it to your liking. If the individual refuses, by all means order at a separate shop.
However, I don't think this is what many graphics owners are frustrated with. Recently, I have seen certain members posting orders for the same thing at 10 shops simultaneously. Often, these individuals won't even use any of the graphics they are given. Instead of choosing one individual to order form, and then going elsewhere if they are not satisfied, certain members will go to 10 different shops, judge the results, and pick one favorite to use. This is EXTREMELY frustrating. It is for this reason that owners of graphics threads request that you use what they make for you, and use it for a certain period of time. It is not to be pushy, but to ensure that individuals aren't abusing the threads. For this reason, I understand such policies and think that more members should be aware of such trends.

I think I know what incident you are talking about. My shop was one of the ones this person ordered from, and, in the end, they used my graphic. I felt really bad about this because, on this person's profile, the other graphic makers had started posting, "will you use my work?" That made me feel like I was some snob who just wants to beat out others.
...Anyways, my point is that doing this effects more people than you would think.

I agree, if you order from two shops or more and you order the same things, then this could end up hurting someone else's feelings.

I agree. I think that you could maybe WAIT until you GET the graphic, decide if you like it or not, and if you don't ask for a redo! Then if you really, really, don't like it, just tell them you're sorry and go to another shop. At least try to have it improved before you go to another shop, if you go to another shop at all.

I agree, you should only ask one person at one shop and if not 100% satisfied, ask to have them redo it.
