It's easy, and it saves energy; please, remember to turn your monitor off. All you have to do is press that little button in the corner when you're not using the computer, and you're saving energy! When a computer is on screen saver mode, it only saves energy by a few watts. So, putting your computer in stand-by mode, hibernation, even turning it off if you have all your stuff saved is great. Just turning the monitor off is great as well! Try it a few times, and soon you'll get in the habit.

Yes! It is easy and important to save energy. It's easy to get into the habit of pushing that power button on your monitor to save more energy than just using the screen saver or hibernating modes.
It's almost easier when you are using a laptop all the time as I do. But once it is set up it's a "no-brainer." I can just walk away from the laptop and it does what it's supposed to do. I went to the power options in the control panel and have scheduled the monitor to turn off after 5 minutes of non-use. When I am finished using the laptop I can just walk away and in 5 minutes the monitor goes off. I could have chosen a lower number but I have found that I am often working on something and it goes off when I'm ready for that. So it is set for 5 minutes for me. Still it is better than being on all of the time.
Rep for the reminder to be a good conserver of power.
