It's against the rules and that will stop most people that "care" from doing it. If you see someone that says "Bump," you can remind them, otherwise you don't have much evidence that people are "fake bumping" I don't see the huge problem with it anyway, it's not like it's a crisis or anything. The forums are always going to have some small problems like that

Yes this is a good point unless the person has been away on a vacay or something, but if they are doing it to bump up their thread, they are breaking the rules, and will most likely get caught so yeah good point, and rep!

This is a grey area... Thanking people is the polite thing to do and the bump is just a bonus. When I'm doing it, I like to wait until there are two or three people to thank at once, so that I will bump my thread only once. It looks better too. Too many obvious attempts at bumping your thread might get your thread closed for you.

How polite people are and the fact that they follow up on each others posts, are some of the things that make such a great place to hang out. I think Webberlily's suggestion of waiting to respond to a few posters at once is excellent and makes it easier to read the thread.

I know that, it's just a reminder here not to fake bump.

I understand that. If they have been away for a while and just then get the message that is ok if they reply. If they reply to a few messages at once (Like i'm doing now) that is ok too. Thanks for your post and the rep.

That's what i'm saying, the obvious bumps like after every post you say thanks just to bump your thread up.

The point of WI is for conversation and i know that. I'm saying if they purposely wait 2 days to respond just to bump their thread up.

Right now I just logged on and Just now got these messages. This wouldn't be considered fake bumping. I'm saying if they wait on purpose just to bump their thread up that would be fake bumping. It's not a big deal, it's just a reminder.

Well yes, I agree with you. Sometimes people do that, and I know only GEs can be bumped, so thanks for this thread

superkitty777, I know the kind of posts you mean The original thread topic can become diluted. It's easier to post in threads when replies say more than just "Anyone else want to post?"
