Same here, my box is almost always full and I'm lazy to clean it out. That's why I prefer using profile messaging.
That is something I try very hard to keep on top of. I like the PM box to be kept clean so that I CAN have those moments that are meant for my eyes only.
I sure wouldn't want a moderator to come and correct me on my profile and YES, I have had Administration send me a couple of letters in the last while that my Thread has been moved OR that I had to 'soften my response.' Seems every once in a while I get a little 'Hi-Strung' and I need someone to 'help me down of my High Horse.' BUT, Like I said, I sure wouldn't want my PM box full so that they couldn't contact me and the only way they COULD would be through a VM...THAT would be embarassing.

I don't know if i agree or not. Yes its not great manners to go back and forth and keep up with their conversation, but its just a profile message...not like your supposed to talk about private things or anything.

That happens to me, and trust me, I would not want it to be there for the world to see. (I'd apologize and then delete the comment if it did happen though.)

Hey dogluver...I have to say I am about 50-50 with this statement:

I do agree that you should not read other people's conversations, even if they are public, but as Dixie and a few others stated, anything that private should not be put in the Public Section. Or on WI at all.

But, there are other perspectives:

1) If someone tells someone you didn't know was celebrating a b-day "Happy Birthday", you realize before it's too late

and 2) I like reading the LOL Cats that come between smitchell and javo xD

I personally haven't had that happen to me (yet), but I think some of my comments might have been a little on the harsh side.

I totally agree. But then again, if you have something private, like a conversation about someone here on WI, why would you do that? You shouldn't be talking about them in the first place. I understand everything else though and totally agree.

I see what you mean with this. While you would want others to respect the privacy, it is hard not to look at what is in from of you. I have a confession to make. When I am unsure of another user and maybe how to take them in a message, i might go and look at what some others have left for them. This way I see if they are a playful person, or if they trade jibes more than laughs.

Would I want someone to go back and forth with my messages, no, but I wouldn't go to that extent with others' messages either!

Thanks pixelgirl!

I actually don't mean that you should say private stuff on profile or in PM's. I just meant that you shouldn't read conversations people have with others, but others have just been bringing that up so I decided to post it in the first post. However, the main point of this thread is to just not read conversations other people have that are not with you, not that you shouldn't post private stuff on profiles

Thank you meowrus!

I'm sure that was a good intention. If you just saw the couple of messages someone posted, then I think it's better than if you were "snooping". Know what I mean?
