Okay, I am confused, too (I am hesitant to do a quote to show I agree with lexi18216). I understand the point in not just quoting someone else and not adding your own info/two cents.
But I think that the person who quoted Quack Quack's original post was trying to be helpful to the other poster and highlight the parts of QQs chart which could help direct their attention to the correct part of the chart. If the poster just referred to the chart without putting it in their post and drawing on it, anyone trying to get clarification would have to go back and forth through the posts to get to the chart. This can be very time consuming. Isn't the point of quoting people to help clarify and give a reference point?
I'm 75/25 on this. It's not fair that they took your post, but if they gave you proper recognition for your post, then I think it should be okay. They shouldn't say something like "What Quack Quack posted", maybe say something like "Here's a post I saw a few days ago by Quack Quack and I think it's useful for the problem you're having.'
If we couldn't use all the things posted on the Internet, where would information for our reports and projects come from? For projects, we cite sources, so I think that as long as we cite our source of the quote it should be okay. It shouldn't just be a quote with "what Quack Quack posted" though.
I don't understand what your are saying? Do you mean where people quote someone and agree with what they're saying? I don't see a problem with that. Or are you talking about something else...? I'm a bit confused.
