Default Disagreeing vs. arguing...

I am posting this in the hopes that it clears some things up. I do not want to start any fights. I noticed that in some recent threads, some people seem to think that if someone disagrees with someone else's opinion, they are attacking them and insulting them. This is not the case. It is possible to disagree without arguing, yet when people feel offended, they respond in an emotional way and then arguments start, threads get closed and then deleted. This can be troubling to people who invest a lot of time and thought into their posts.

People will disagree it is one of the wonderful things about humanity that we all have such a varitey of opinions, and ideas. One person may not agree with another, but we ahould all respect each other and each other's opinion.

Lets all try to keep WI the frindly place that we all know and want it to be.

Thanks for the reminder. When you have your first real discussion, it can feel like attacking, but that's rarely the other person's intentions. When I first joined and people had differing opinions, it did feel like attacking, but now that I glance through all the people, they are all so nice and would never want to hurt anyone.

I tottaly agree! People attack other people for saying tings like "Edward is my love!" And then the person that sees it is all like "HES MINE YOU FREAK!" It happend to me with some mean girl (no names) who was 15-16 and liked Nick Jonas, then lied and stuff, and THEN got banned because I reported her. But if you disagree say "I disagree, but thats your opinion and this is mine: _________________________________________" It makes the person feel a whole lot better even if you do disagree. Also, you can get banned for rudness and fighting, so don't say something rude to the person. Like "YOU FREAK EDWARDS MINE!!!!!!!!!" because they can easily report you and you have the possiblility of getting banned. Also, if someone does this to you, don't try to fight back because if someone sees that you can also get banned. Stay on the safe side and just say, "Sorry you feel that way, please don't try to fight though." And if they continue then report them. Lol, Tj03, this really ties in to what you were trying to say, just thought I would add it for emphasis

Thanks for the great thread! People really need to understand, that in life there will be people who agree with your ideas, and people that will disagree. Probably, people will automatically will think they are 'attacking' them or trying to fight, but people all have their own opinions, and to travel through life, you'll have to listen to both sides, and respect the people that disagree, and the people that disagree have to state that they disagree and their opinion NICELY and RESPECTFULLY.

I completely agree. A lot of that has happened with people going to too far, making too big a joke or just plain being grumpy. Everyone should discuss things, but no one should feel like it's a battle.

I agree. I see this a lot with the ever-popular topics: the jonas brothers and twilight.

A "do you like twilight" thread will always have the "OMG EDWARD IS THE BEST!" but if someone said, I don't like edward or twilight.. a twilight fan might say "How could you not like edward!?" Just because they have a different opinon.

People should understand that it doesn't make a person a "freak" or a "weirdo" because their view is different from yours.

Great thread, rep.

Yes I believe we did. There are no hard feelings at all...life is too short to worry about holding grugdes over silly discussions no matter how heated they may be. Friends!
