You could just flag it so a mod could close it/ open it or put CLOSED in the title

I somewhat disagree.

Yes, we could use this feature if we're in a hurry, but some members may think their shop was 'ruined' because they didn't reserve enough posts or something, and they'd close it, even though cocoabean can solve this problem. They might not have known that. Also, people may use it to close their own shops if they have under 1000 posts, which is against the rules if you want to start a new shop afterwards.

Members easily can flag it, say they're closed, and wait it to be locked or deleted.

I agree-it's not your fault if they post without reading the title that says "No orders for now-in renovation!". That's really all that's necessary, in my opinion. I would need a better reason in order to consider allowing people the privilege of being able to close on demand-this is something that gift gurus earn when they become guru (we can close and open our GEs whenever we want), and it's a great privilege, and I don't think it's necessary and sensible to give this ability to so many people and their shops. As people have said, if you have extra posts that have come from people not bothering to read the "No posting" sign, you can always ask a mod to delete them.

Plus, if you ever need posts reserved, just let Cocoabean know...she can add in the posts for you (:
Actually, we can't add posts, but we can delete old ones so that the posts you made come up to the top.

You can always flag it or PM a staff member to ask to have it closed. We don't mind

You can also, as people have said, put "closed" for your title This works well for me. If people order while I'm closed I just reply that I'm closed. Plus if I'm filling orders while closed then people can still post a comment about their order.

Also, if your shop is closed you can't edit while it's closed anyway

I once made a thread exactly like this not realizing these things... so unfortunately the option to close shops is not really a viable one

If you ever have anything you need help with in the a/s section feel free to PM me or another staff member. We're here to help
