Default Appropriate Topics Suggestion.

I am a part of many forums. I've found that most have similar rules that work well to ensure that they are safe and friendly.

One rule that many have in common is that Mods prefer you do not discuss matters of religion, politics, etc.

I've noticed that in Open Mike lately, there have been a lot of religious bickering. I'm not sure if we need to instate a new "no religious discussions" rule or what, but I just don't think it is adding much to the forum.

It is one thing if people want to discuss different beliefs around the world in a friendly manner, but a lot of these posts are complaining and bickering.

Similarly, I don't see the need for people to discuss politacal matters or create "boys/girls/particular beliefs only" threads--as this is exclusion and really not nice or fair to anyone.

Offering information about particular topics or looking for people similar to you is great, but telling people they cannot participate is not.

Just my suggestion.

I'm thinking about how I feel on this subject. My first thought was, "If you don't like the subject, don't read the article" Then I thought that religion and politics have nothing to do with Webkinz, so why talk about them?

Was also thinking whether to reply to this. The general discussion section is to talk about anything and I do know it is very well moderated. Many of these posters are children and I don't feel there is anything wrong with them to touch all different topics as long as they do it in a nice and friendly way. As and adult I have learned to keep away from topics of politics and religion as it can lead to many disagreements. If you see a post where someone is being nasty just flag a moderator, they will handle the situation tactifully.

This is basically how I feel. Except when the topics are in the Open Mic section. It is there to discuss unrelated topics. Once you start censoring subjects everything is fair game. I think that the mods do a great job of monitoring the threads.
