I've noticed a few adds on here seem to be making the page I'm on run a bit slower. I'm not sure exactly what ones they all are, but whenever I get the Sims add it takes forever to load the page. If you could, can you try and remove some of these slow-loading adds? (lots of the adds with animation are sort of slow, but only a few in particular)
Is anyone else getting ads that are sort of slow? Cause if its just my computer, then nevermind.
ok so now I know its not just my computer. My antivirus software just found a threat on WI, and that's the only internet window I have up, so I'm pretty sure an add on here has a virus or something.

I've been having a ton of problems with ads on here, and to tell the truth I havent come here as often as I used to because of it. Just now when I tried to log in the page that says youre logged in just hung and hung. Theres a sentence on the bottom that says if the page doesnt load, click "here" and when I did a new browser window pulled up with a huge Scott's Trading ad in the whole page. There have been many many times in the last month or so when I click on one of the forum names or the title of a post someone put up and I'll have the same thing happen --- a site pulls up as if all the links on the page were pointed to some site that had an ad on here. I can't stay on WI or Webkinz Newz for more than a few minutes because it shuts my modem off! Its impossible for me to do a Peek-A-Newz contest because every time I refresh a page it shuts my modem off and it takes 3 pr 4 minutes to pull back up and load the page again.
the cable company and the anti virus company we have both said this happens when the anti virus stuff on your comp or the firewall with your DSL or Cable 'see' a virus on the page. It shuts off your connection so you dont get hacked or get the page loaded and get a virus. They said a LOT of ads are seen as viruses beauze theyre so intrusive and are not only "3d party ads' which even IE or Fire fox block dependeing on your settings but they actually also collect data from inside your computer and even your emails so they can target the ads to you.
This is nOT cool, I agree!! and I really dont get why there has to be so so so so many ads on the pages. I know its how you make money but signing up for sompanies to put ads on your pages just makes them slap stuff up and you dont know how they are working or what they are up to. They have to make money too and have coding in the ads that does a lot more then just show you an ad.
it makes me sad that I cant play on WKN anymore and can barely stay on WI. I love it here!
sorry to hear that's happening to you. i have wi2 so i don't have to deal with ads, but once a friend was telling me that you can download adblock & it makes the ads go away. i can't remember exactly, something like that.
she said to download it but i couldn't get it to work D:<
its like... an add on to browsers, adblock.
but i am not having any trouble with the ads.
If you find an advertisement you believe is inappropriate, or is causing problems, please contact a member of the staff. We will pass your message on to Justin so he can check it out in the programming.
We will need to know what the advertisement is for, where on the page it was running (top, bottom, side, etc), and, if you can right click on the ad to grab the URL it would have taken you to if you had clicked on it, that's a big help.
As always, if you are getting error messages, or if you computer is running slowly, please run a virus and malware scan on your system.
