I am an avid GEDCT chatter and I never have problems coming up with long responses.
"Hey everyone! How is everyone on this fine Thursday?
Great chat topic _______.
*answer Qs*" (yes i know it's friday)
On the GEDCT whoever makes it that day has a theme/topic and it helps start conversation. A lot of time they include questions they want you to answer.
Like if the GEDCT was "Come on the desert is on us today at the June 1st GEDCT"
they might have:
-do you have desert every night?
-what is your favorite desert?
as some of the questions for you to answer.
"Hey ________! What do you have planned for today?"
"Hello _______! How are you?"
When you are chatting with someone, like in a convo it's very easy to get 10 characters.
yeah I believe your right. It helps us so we can become gifted and so on.
This is incorrect short posts do not count for applying to the gifted program. They must be good posts. Also I am a big fan of the 10 letter rule. Personally I think that if you put (10 letter rule) you are just defeating the rule. If you don't have anything else better to say than just HI don't post it all. When ever I go to the DCT (which is very infrequently) I always start out by saying HI but I then I either share a little story or start up a conversation. I think the 10 letter rule is very apporopraite. Think about the members who don't chat in the DCT and have 1000 posts. Now compare them with a member that chats mostly in the DCT and uses (10 letter rule) commonly. Whose posts are worth more? Now I realize all DCTers do not do this. Personally I find only a few do. Sorry about that little rant but that is just my opinion.
