i had just gotten on wi, and saw that the homepage that the lil goledn was jan. potm, i cliick on the link for the full article, then the screen closed, and some thing popped up for some sort of program, and wanted to know if i wanted to install it, it was 'supposed to help your computer from virus' ect.' it said ok, or cancel, and of course i picked cancel. then it automaticly took me to a site that looked like it was downloading something, but i clicked the x out of it so fast i couldnt really see what it said... but it looked like it said that it was 20% done when i clicked the x. then i came back on here, and it was fine, was it something that wi did, or just something else? i really hope that it wasnt wi! thanks for anyone who can help me, i just want my computer to be safe, form virus, and everything... I DO NOT WANT ANYONE TO BE AFRAID OF WI, IT IS A GREAT SITE, AND IM ALMOST SURE THAT IT WASNT WI THAT DID THAT!

I'm sure it was just a pop up or something the computer automaticly clicked.. my computer clcik things by its self sometimes, so when im e-mailing some one, it sends sometimes..
Yes, I agree with metals1996..............I sometimes get odd pop-ups like the one you mentioned, too, and it's never been a problem. If you are worried about it, you might just want to run a virus scan of your computer, and if G-d forbid there is a bug, your security system will contain it and fix it for you.
This happened to me today too! Only for me, it was a notice that spyware was on my system and that you could download software to get rid of it. I figured it would install spyware instead of get rid of it, so I clicked the red exit X and it started downloading! I also was able to close everything before it completely downloaded. I thought I may have accidentally clicked on something by accident with my trackpad - they are touchy at times - but now I don't think so.
It happened to me too. Freaked me out but then I remembered that I was at school, so if something bad happens then the techs there would be able to fix it. I am just glad that it didn't happen at home.
