Certain pages like the recipes page I get pop ups that aren't blocked by my pop up blocker. The one for the cursors. It is annoying and I hope it's not harmful, but I guess they have to use ads to help pay for the site.

I am not sure what you are showing in your picture. It looks like a normal advertisement banner to me. The only times, I believe, you have trouble with those is when you click on them and they could potentially have spyware or something. My AV software and anit-spy software would pick up something if there was a problem and I am here almost daily and nothing has shown up in scans or anything.

The thing I find weird is that sometimes, when you look at a post, words are highlighted above it and they are a link which can lead you to ads if you click on them accidentally.

they can use them to help the site, but coming from a marketing background, this can also harm the site. Not everyone appreciates being bombarded with ads that they will NOT click on when they come to a "friendly" family oriented site.

I wont let me child come to this site b.c i know hes a click-a-holic and not all pop-up preventer's can stop all ads from popping up..

There should be at least some kind of control with these things.. Ya might lose more viewers this way..
