Webkinz cares pets are only available at Walgreen's stores. It is just a lil'kinz pet with an extra red tag on it, as well as the pet code that all pets come with. You actually don't have to enter the pet, as it is just the red tag that gives you the 5 plays on the webkinz cares game. It will also, upon entering the code, give you a choice of 3 gift boxes. Once you choose, it opens to reveal your extra gift(s). It can contain up to 3 items and sometimes even a bonus wish token. I went into a local Walgreen's last month to pick up a hippo for my son's stocking this year, and they had just recieved a large new shipment. Same animals, but more of them. It had been months since they had recieved any and I was starting to think that it was being phased out, but I suppose not.
When you adopt a pet with a Webkinz Cares tag, available at Walgreens (and maybe elsewhere?) you get a trip to the Webkinz Cares machine. Not unlike the Caring Valley tag, it is a second tag attached to your pet.
