I have 2 siblings with type 1 (juvenile) diabetes and 2 grandparents and a great-grandma with type 2 (adult-onset) diabetes. Hoping they find a cure sometime soon! Thank you Webkinz for making people more aware of Diabetes!
I have a dear nephew that has diabetes & our family has been involved in research & trying to help with Diabetes Awareness & Prevention for many years.
This past summer, my dd & I had the pleasure of meeting this amazing man (& his dog!) as they walked through our town. He doing something *WONDERFUL* to help spread the word of Diabetes Awareness & Prevention!
His name is Erik Bendl & he is known as the "World Guy".
Erik Bendl has walked over two thousand miles for the cause of diabetes awareness. In recent years he and his dog named Nice have walked in over twenty states and Washington D.C. to help diabetes organizations and encourage people to get healthy with exercise to control and prevent diabetes. If you would be lucky enough to see him on the road, stop to say hello!
We talked with him, took a couple of pictures of he & Nice & made a small contribution to his cause.
