The best present i ever gave was giving my parents a 36in tv that i was supost to keep from my bank that gave it to me. The reson i gave it to them was so i felt good plus now when people ask me what happend to it i tell them and i feel good when they call me amazing for no keeping it.
The best present I ever gave wasw to my mom this summer... my children and I were visiting her after her recent cancer surgery and start of chemo... I took my mom & my girls to get a spa pedicure. My mom was practically in tears because she had never had a professional pedicure in all of her 83 years, it felt so good to do something so special for my mom.
My sister hates Christmas and usually shuns her gifts. The only holiday she likes is Halloween, so one year I stocked up on discount Halloween stuff and gave it to her as her Christmas gift. She was delighted. I even found a black Christmas tree and set it up in her apartment as an extra surprise. Talk about cheap and materialistic, sure, but it was worth it to see her smiling and showing some holiday spirit!
The best present I ever gave was a leather wallet that I made for my father. I had taken a leather shop course in high school and it became my hobby for sometime after that. I got my own leather craft kit and floral pattern to make a wallet. My artistic side really just wanted an excuse to carve leather rather than go gift shopping. I hardly expected that my father would actually use the wallet longer than a the few days necessary to spare my feelings. It was the stiffest wallet you'd ever seen and didn't fold very easily. Even when folded, it looked a bit to large for comfortable pocket wear. Still, I was certainly mighty proud of the design carved in the front. After all, I did win a contest for leather craft in my class the previous year. So maybe my father might just keep it as an ornament. Nope, good dutiful father that he is, he just had to use it as a wallet. I could tell it was a chore for him to manage every time he pulled it from his pocket, but he insisted that it was the best wallet ever. Called it his bullet proof wallet. Besides being a great father, he is captain frugal, so he takes any excuse not to buy something, including new wallets. 12 years have passed since I gave him that wallet, and guess what he still keeps in his back pocket? Yep, that "bullet proof" wallet is still there! It has broken in quite nicely the past decade and the design on the front is hardly faded at all. Sometimes what seems like a make-do gift becomes the best gift ever
