i think one of the best presents I can give is my love and secondly my time. I think my very best present that I have given was by showing love for others by giving my time to help with flood relief after the devastating floods in TN last year. I was able to help, with hundreds of others, show love in a very practical way to families who lost so much. I was also blessed immensely by doing so. Seeing the look on the faces of the hurting families, as they received the help, was such a great gift to me as well. It was also very empowering and humbling to be one of the volunteers that helped build a new preschool for children who had lost their old preschool in the floods.
One Christmas when we didn't have a lot of money, I got creative. I gave my partner gifts on the theme of the 12 days of Christmas, with a rewritten song to explain everything. I don't remember what the gifts were, but maybe 12 bic pens, 11 paper clips, 10 stamps, 9 songs on a cassette (this was a long time ago!), .... you get the idea. She loved it, and I think she still has the song somewhere!
Also, we make calendars every year with our own photography (nature photos), and put the family's birthdays and holidays on them, and that's always everyone's favorite present.
This past Christmas, I gave the little girl I babysit for a collection of Webkinz stuff so that she could become a "webbie" like Miss Brenda! She loved it and had to sleep with all of the stuffies according to her parents. What fun!
