Like many, I was really behind this idea and excited for its possibilities. It's too bad it wasn't thought through more carefully, as now so many are disenchanted. I'd also hoped that since -- as Ganz itself said -- it was THEIR mistake, they would "do right" by those who logged so many hours trying to accomplish their admittedly impossible task. After all, the whole idea of this activity is to inspire communal spirit -- wouldn't it help if a kind gesture started with Ganz? Unfortunately, it seems that we have a community united in disappointment, rather than inspiration.
Looking at this week's vote choices, I don't understand the value of the prizes after seeing the kind effort that's needed to successfully complete the tasks. So it'll be interesting to see what this weekend's community effort is supposed to be. Almost certainly, very few people will throw themselves into it with the enthusiasm that they did this past contest.
I still like the idea of the communal effort; it really could be so great and help all of us develop a wonderful sense of team spirit. I just hope that this past weekend was an awful fluke and that future contests will be fun and inspiring. Here's hoping!
Shame on You Ganz Another great lesson you've shown our children! you admit your mistake, yet go nothing to make Amends! I certainly agree with everyone else! Your all Hype, yet no Show! What and How are you going to make this up to all of us! I can not sign "PEACE"
Oh well, it's a shame that everything new on webkinz is always full of problems or glitches. I agree with everyone else on the matter. I don't think I would waste my time for wshop items, just like i didnt waste my time for 500 kinzcash since i can get that quicker than playing goobers lab all day. But with that high of a bar set, I knew it was impossible. 2 days to get 6 billion points? It's good that Ganz wants to improve on the site and make more things to do, but I think they forget that it's kids that they are advertising to, but kids have school, homework, etc. They can't sit at a computer all day trying to achieve goals that seem to be geared towards adults who are diehard webkinz players. I think there should be a middle ground where everyone can play, pitch in, and enjoy, despite the age.
This Communal Contest idea is turning out to be a total dud. I actually like the idea of everyone working together towards a common goal; however, lets be realistic. The fact that Ganz royally messed up the first week of the contest and yet had the audacity to tell everyone "Oops, you didn't meet the goal!" is a little ridiculous. Then, for the SECOND week of the contest, we're working for items we could just go and buy ourselves in the WShop. Seriously?? I mean, it's not like this costs them money to give away Kinz cash or some other prize.
Ganz continues to disappoint me more and more everyday.
I really like the concept however, after the fiasco of this past weekend I think we will pass the next.
I have no use for any of the prize items ~ in fact I have plenty of sweet stuff sofas off the wheel. Selling any of the items will not be worth the the hours it will take to achieve the goal and any of my garden harvests gets a bigger cash influx, too.
For those who do decide to try again, I hope Ganz makes the goal realistic this time. Good luck to you!
I have a *age edited* daughter who spent hours playing this weekend. She couldn't usually get beyond level 5 but she pushed on, not for the prize but for the challenge. She will be crushed to see the Communal contest area saying we didn't make it. Come on Ganz, remember, this is a site for kids first off and second, w- shop prized are not going to spark an interest. These are virtual items, I think you can do better than this.

I agree with everything that's been said. The mistake was theirs, not ours - we still were on playing the game! If not the full 500, at least something to keep people inspired. And those are REALLY lame prizes. Why not make the goal challenging yet somewhat more reasonable and then have people able to choose a lower cost item from the eShop? I know they don't want to lose money by giving away the big ticket items - but stuff like the charms, wallpaper, etc. would be good - especially for those who don't have $ to spend in the eShop. Or alternatively, some special line of items designed specifically for the Communal Contests - heck, they do that for every other promotion they run!
Is it just me or does it seem like, in their haste to unveil each great new idea, they don't take the time to debug all these technical issues? I know they need to have the next best thing one right after another in order to stay competitive, but wouldn't it be great if things WORKED the first time out? Or even the 2nd...
