Although it has been over 24 hours since the extended Webkinz World maintenance ended, we are still getting reports from a number of our members who are unable to log on to their accounts. The affected accounts are all getting an error message stating that something is wrong with the servers. Nearly all of members who are reporting problems have family members in the same household who are not having any problems with their accounts. Because of this we know this is a Ganz-related issue and not an issue with any individual's computer.

If your account has been affected by this gitch, please contact Ganz Customer Service: http://customerservice.webkinz.com/cs/us_en/em.php Hopefully the programmers at Ganz will get this sorted out soon and everyone can get back to playing games and having fun in Webkinz World.

UPDATE: Ganz has made an official statement regarding these site issues:


This weekend we had a hardware failure with one of our many servers. We are currently in the process of fixing this issue. The impact of this failure is that the Curio Shop information for today was not created, and currently you will be unable to visit Arte. Daily information – like whether you’ve spun the Wheel of Wow – has also not been reset. While the majority of or members can continue to play in Webkinz World, some members may find that they cannot access the site. We expect all of these issues to be fixed by tomorrow.

For members who wished to enter this weekend’s Spring Celebration Bunny contest but were unable to, we will be adding one more day to the contest, later this week. Please watch Webkinz Newz for more information.

Oh No! I was able to get onto my account this morning with no problems at all, now I can't get in! I hope Ganz gets everything sorted out soon.

I haven't tried to log on today, but hopefully they fix this problem soon. I'm sure everyone affected is growing impatient to see their webkinz!

I'm just getting mad because I haven't been able to garden and I have 3 gardens. I don't want to have to dig all that up when I could be making about 500 kinzcash instead.

UPDATE: MON 03.30.09 430pm KT.

I just got off the phone with a manager at Ganz. I called and got a supervisor and then requested a manager. He is aware that I'm posting this as I told him that I was going to share this with people. He specifically said, "please do, especially if you are posting on insider".

Here's what happened:
All servers went down at 1000pm KT Fri 03.27.09. Some servers were functioning again Saturday morning. Pretty much all of the remaining servers were functioning again Sunday evening. HOWEVER--there was still one server down. (It might be a few but he said "server" so I took it to be one.)

Here's the good news....
They have been working on this issue nonstop since Fri at 10pm. The technical team has been working in alternating 12-hr shifts. (When Team A goes home, Team B comes in, and so on.) Fixing this is a top priority for them and WW Ganz will not rest until the server is back up!

Here's the bad news....
Although they HOPE to have it fixed by this evening, in reality they have no idea when it will be fixed. Why? They aren't sure WHAT exactly caused the crash. Here's an interesting fact, they did not add anything new, the crash was caused by REGULAR maintenance. You can clear your cache, try a zillion different computers, try three-hundred million different browsers, move across the country, do any number of "typical fixes", it won't matter. WW's server is DOWN. Also, We all must keep in mind that WW is a "as-is site" with no guarantee of access.

My Webkinz's account has been down since Friday. I understand they are having problems. But what about the daily things we do? Like your garden or daily pet kinzcare. The only good thing about it is you can find other places to go on the internet to play games.

In case there's speculation about account names being the cause; we've got 4 accounts - one that starts with a B, one with an I, and two with a J.

-- B can't log in.
-- I can log in.
-- The two J accounts are different by only one letter. Let's say the 1st is "January" and the other is "Januarys." January can't log in, Januarys can.

It also doesn't have anything to do with reloading the browser; I can try to load the B account and get the error message, then change the account name to the I account and re-try and get in just fine. I've also done this in Firefox and IE7, and there's no difference.
