With the Deep Sea game, the biggest thing that helped me was trying to grab as many white pearls (dots) (and the big yellow, when possible) that I could. There are a couple of hidden areas off the main path that have additional pearls as well.
Before the challenges, I hadn't played this game for quite a while. My first time through (for the the challenge), I was just trying to get through as fast as I could. That was the totally wrong tactic for me. The next time, I aimed for as many pearls as I could, taking my time and that really made the difference.
