One thing I found annoying was you couldn't use a welcome back code, I had 2 extra accounts almost expired and I was waiting for the grace period to finish and have the place to use the welcome back code, now I have 2 codes and no way to use them , I was looking forward to those E-store points I guess Ganz happened.
I think anything you can do on an expired account is a plus....you always have the option to adopt even a lil kinz to access the other areas...don't see why there are so many complaints...Thanks so much for the update!!
Ok, so I heard you can only re-new your expired webkinz account if you've played on it within a year. Well that just doesn't work for me! All of my accounts are wayyyy older than a year old! (except for the active one I have now.) But this still stinks for me. This was a greaaat I dea and I'm sure many, mannnnyy people will get use out of it. But I guess I won't. Thanks Ganz for the great idea though! I love it.
This is great! Too bad I was relying on this so I could get some items from an expired account for my main account. I got everything gathered up and then.... I CAN'T SEND GIFTS! Well I'll try and go to Walgreen's with my mom and I can get a 2 for $6 deal. One for me and one for the expired account!
I really understand most of the frustrations people have with webkinz, especially when things that are regularly working don't work, or promos like winterfest get messed up... but I find it just baffling that so many people would complain about free access to an account they had previously lost access to. When you adopt a pet (up until yesterday) they make it clear your account is for one year. Be happy about playing for free.
I can see why Ganz is making those restrictions and it is all about money: they don't want people coming back and sending/trading their items from that expired account to their newer active accounts. They want the reopened accounts to have to spend money to get to their items -- namely upgrade to deluxe or purchase a new animal to give them the benefits we all have and want. <growl>
There is one really good point to the expired accounts being revived: Children whose parents were unable/didn't to keep the account active can now have their original pets back! That is very good. BUT Ganz needs to be proactive and send an e-mail to the registered owner of each expired account letting them know of the wonderful news for their children. I know children who were not financially able to meet the requirements to keep their accounts and the only way they know about the change is that I have called them. It is Ganz' responsibility to inform all of the account holders.
Thanx COWS for this update. We will keep all of our accounts active. I don't want to lose anything. On 1 acct. I got a note in my pet's room saying the account will expire unless a new pet is adopted by a date last Dec. We have tons of pets not adopted for all 3 accts. so 1 was adopted 1 day before it was going to expire. It's good that now accts won't expire & players will still be able to do some stuff BUT the people who always are adopting new pets are the people who should have full membership with no restrictions. suzee
