EEWWWW. That is horrid looking, definitly looks like a flying clifford ran into a flying dragon/monkey combo. I say change the color's back and give it wings. Since Falkor didn't have wings, it would make it not movie based. I can't believe the color changed, but it still has the same PSI name and style as the griffin! Seriously, get more creative!
I was anxiously awaiting the sale of the first version. I really don't like this red one at all it just looks like a silly red dino. The first one looked wise and old world mystical, like a fantasy world. Oh well now I dont have to worry about buying one .
I don't like it, either, and I love dragons. It needs wings, and it definitely does not need to be that horrible color! Blech!
As for the Cheshire cat, since there were interpretive drawings of Lewis Carroll's characters beforehand, I'm not sure if you could claim that the Webkinz Cheshire Cat looks solely like a Disney movie version, so maybe that was why there was no problem.
The Luck Dragon, though, did look a lot like Falkor. The book contained an illustration at the beginning of each chapter, but nothing so detailed as the movie, and the movie version of Falkor was a Jim Henson Muppet creation. So, in essence, the movie version of Falkor was the only "real" known interpretation, so someone could easily say it was copied. The movie rights are owned by Warner Brothers if I am not mistaken.
I still like the original one better. This one is yucky. I don't like it at all.
OH NO!!!!!!! What is Ganz thinking???? Well I was having two of the original luck dragon...don't know if I want either one now. The red is hideous!!!! A color change is definitely needed...Ganz come on!! PS> the Clifford comment is exactly right
