If you really want one call a smaller retailer that sells them, and have them hold one for you. I did yesterday and I have a brown cow and squirrel with my name on them. I asked and they said I was the only one who called. He said he should have them in a week.

Awww! I wanted one! Poor COWS4YOU! I bet you already have a FEW, don't you, COWS4YOU? That is ridiculous! Why do they even make them if Ganz is going to retire them before they come out?

Retiring a Webkinz BEFORE it is even released is not only HIGHLY UNFAIR but it is severely ****ING ME OFF!

I don't always have the $$$ to get every single new one every time they come out, I mean Geez!!!

---------- Babybreau added 1 Minutes and 59 Seconds later ----------

I can't imagine all the disappointed children!!

They are trying to re-create another "Cabbage Patch Kids" or "Elmo" phenomenon where parents were fighting over these toys for Christmas. I'm old enough to remember BOTH quite vividly.

It's disgusting that a toy company as reputable as Ganz would do this.

---------- Babybreau added 1 Minutes and 43 Seconds later ----------

Ameriwade doesn't even have the Brown Cow listed anymore!!!!

Why don't they just release these items as a limited edition??? It seems crazy to retire them before they've even been released (and everyone was hoping to go buy one thinking they'd be around for some time to come) - I don't really get the purpose in it. I have to admit, it irritates me that there seems to be a growing trend to retire brand new items! Sigh.

---------- gracedarling added 5 Minutes and 57 Seconds later ----------

Ah, I saw that luvwebkinz already suggested the limited editions idea. I think it's the perfect solution, frankly!

Wake up Ganz! Instead of pushing people (like me) to hurry up and purchase this, you're just making me reconsider which webkinz I will buy! I only have so much money set aside for webkinz (I do have to buy food and shelter first) and knowing a webbie is retired before it even hits the stores makes me more likely to skip it all together. I'm not going to fight off super collectors who run in and scoop up 50 of them. The brown cow was #1 on my son's Christmas list, too. He'll probably end up with a google.

Agreed -

I am not going to be manipulated!
If you are trying to spur sales, then fix the WW website!

I've stopped recommending it to people now, because it frustrates me to badly, I don't want them to be like "thanks a lot - for nothing!" when they try to play and can't!

I agree with luvwebkinz - just call them limited edition pets.
I don't know - it seems like they are either making really bad choices, or planning poorly.

Discontinuing a pet before it is even released does NOT make me want to run out and get one - it makes me think you found a flaw in the process, and don't like the results! Sort of like blaming the whimsey dragon on a fabric shortage when it was actually a licensing issue on the image results....

I don't know who runs the Webkinz division, but it sounds like the new year might be
a great time for some personnel changes!
