Default Re: April is Autism Awareness Month

I hope by walking the Park looking for the Mooster with my new petz I've done some little part:

Click the image to open in full size.

The first I ever heard of Autism was about 20 years ago when a work friend said her son had it.

I'd never heard of it before and asked her what it was.

She told me, "he processes things differently and has trouble communicating with people that he doesn't know".

I see now we know much much more about it but the fight is not yet won.

My heart goes out to all of you Moms and Dads and Grandmas and Grandpas and Uncles and Aunts and Cousins and Friends.

Thank you JacksMom for starting this thread and thank you to all who have shared!

Even if you did make me cry!

I find this quite awkward to say. *shifty eyes*
I have Asperger Syndrome, a form of Autism. I'm very shy but very smart.

I disagree. My son with autism is the most wonderful blessing in my life. I mean that from the bottom of my heart.

What I think is sad is the lack of awareness, understanding, and funding available.

Wink Re: April is Autism Awareness Month

I have an autistic disoder. What it is called is aspergers.

Even though some of us are autistic, that does not mean that people should feel sorry for us. We are different, but we aren't people with fish heads. If we are, then feel sorry for us. But as far as I know we don't, so you should not feel sorry about the fact that we are a little bit different. But that is just my opinion

I agree, as a parent of a child with PDD (a form of autism), I wouldn't change anything...he can beat me at a 100 piece puzzle by 5-10 mins. He's * and I'm *...lol All of us just happen to pay a little more attention to what he likes, and go from there. We don't ever treat him like he's different, I made a big point about him being treated differently when we got his diagnosis. It just wasn't right...so he thinks a little differently...just like lefties....just like me...he wasn't to be treated like an alien.
