Won’t Be On For Awhile

I’m going on a trip, and chances are I won’t be able to log on for a long time. What happens if the pet care meter reaches zero? Is there any way to keep my pets healthy while I’m gone?:(

It is okay to take a break! Your pets will not die! It may take a bit of effort to bring their levels back up again after you return, but that is okay.

You can bring your pets, very quickly, back up to their normal happy selves.
Within two days and a little bit of extra attention, they’ll have their hearts full.
Bath your pet (run the water, at least) - 5 Points
Shower your pet - 5 Points
Feed your pet (while it is awake) 4 pumpkins - 5 Points
Run the treadmill - 5 Points
Jump on a trampoline - 5 Points
Splash water at the sink - 5 Points
Place pet back in bed - 10 Points
Answer pet requests - 25 Points
Play Dailies - 1 point each (unless pet requests you play)
Decorate - 1 point for one object (given only once)
Play the game of the day (sometimes if I’m at the 3/4 mark this will totally fill my pets meter)
You lose 25 Points per day, so if you’re gone two days your pet will probably be below the half way mark. But not so low it will be unrecoverable, it never is.

In addition to what Dixie suggested, put your pet in a vehicle and each doorway it drives through counts 1 point. A doorway counts only once total so the next pet would have to go through different doorways.

Marna, it’s the same as placing an object. If you drive through the doorway, you won’t get a point for placing an object. Basically it runs under the programming that’s it’s placing a new object in the room. Whether you drive through the door or place an object (your preference) But, I will admit, I like your way better than searching for new objects.

Your pets will never die but it may take a bit longer to get their meters up but it'll all be okay. & it's okay to step away & take a break for awhile. We'll be happy to see you whenever you return. Enjoy! ^.^

I was off for over 2 years and it only took like a day or two to fill them back up, it's super easy, so don't feel bad. Enjoy your trip!

After the latest update I noticed that you now get 5 points for doing a job, and two points for each class you take at the Kinzville Academy.

You also get 5 points for each meter that you fill - happiness, hunger, and energy. If the meter is already full, you need to bring it down first so you can fill it, or you won't get your points. You also get one point for the first time per day you play each game in the arcade, and if you beat your personal best score in a game you'll get 5 points. I haven't noticed getting extra points for the game of the day, but it may be a game you can't normally play if you're not deluxe, so you might be getting a new personal high score that gives you points (I've often "milked" that one, purposely failing after getting just a few points higher than my previous high score). Swimming also gives you 5 points, and ball pits, wading pools, as well as regular pools count for this.

A slight correction on losing points - you lose 25% of your points each day, so the first day you lose 25 points, but the second day only 19, the third day 14, etc. It actually takes almost 2 weeks to go down to complete zero. So really, it's okay to leave your pets a few days. You should be able to get them back up within 2-3 days.

Ah, that explains why I sometimes have got points for placing objects and sometimes not. I never connected the two.

Ritz, that’s much more concise! I’ve always wondered what some of the other tertiary points were for. I probably would have nailed it on my own eventually.
I guess with enough of us harvesting info and points we should really move this info to the :wi:ki

For placing an object I take something out and put it back where it was. But you get a point for this only once and that's all even if you switch pets or rooms. Driving through a doorway gives you a point for each different doorway you go through so it's limited only by the number of accessible doors you have in your house.
