I don't think that they will get rid of the plushies. They are a company founded on making plushies. While they do put energy into the estore, they release more plushies a month than estore pets. I like having the option of both real plushies/accessories and virtual items from the estore. I hope that it stays like it is because I would be sad if they got rid of either.
Recently they had a survey on the Webkinz news asking us how many plushies they should sell a month. 1-5. I voted for 3 plushies a month. I think that Ganz overwhelmed retailers last year with the amount of plushies they were selling per month and stores could not sell them as fast. The demand for plushies by retailers went down. Most people cannot afford to keep up with buying 5-7 webbies month.
So, I believe they will lower the number of plushies per month they sell, so stores will still want to continue carrying them and people can afford to get them.
In regards to the e-store, I think that will continue as well, but is geared more toward collectors and perhaps people who live in areas of the country/world where plushies are not available. I really think the e-store is a revenue source that allows them to continue making plushies. It costs a lot more for China to make our plushies and ship them here than for Ganz to sell "pixels".
But, no worries, because they know the bread and butter of their business is the physical stuffed animals, and so they will continue to be competitive in the market to make them available to us.
I know that was long-winded, but I had been thinking about this ever since the e-store launched.

Don't worry - Ganz will never stop making plushes - they might reduce the number released each month - but they will never quit because while the estore is a great way to sell to current WW members (who already have rooms full of plushes!) very few new customers will shop there.
Ganz gets new customers when kids are in a mall and see the cute plushes and go... Moooom PLEASE! and then the Mom decides to pay $12 to $16 for a plush that would normally cost about $6 because it comes with access to WW....
Also - gifts are a big part of WW sales - and few people want to go to a birthday party with an estore code
Im my point of view, the estore ruined Webkinz.
When they made the estore, it upset me because I wasn't allowed to get anything from there.
I mean, who would pay 10$ for a digital couch?
