| | Unanswered: Why "la" is a bad word
Many of you have had problems naming your newly adopted Webkinz since the latest update this week. The letters "la" anywhere in the name, seem to be a major offender. I think I've figured out why. "La" is not a bad word per se, in any language as far as I know, but it is an article: in French, it is the feminine of the article "the". Any name with the letters "the" will be rejected too.
Just try it for yourself! You don't need a new pet to do this, just go to the adoption centre and fill out the name that you want to test, and if it's a boy or girl, and click on the "next" arrow. Try putting "the" for a name. Refused! Try "mary" and try "cat" separately. Both accepted! Try "mary the cat" or "cat the mary". Refused!
This leads to a lot of nonsense. I adopted a bat and wanted to name him Vladimir the Imp. But Vladimir has the "la" in it and was refused. Valdimir was acceptable. "Valdimir the Imp" was refused. For fun, I tried "Valdimir Impaler", and lo and behold! it was accepted!!! but I clicked "back" and named him Valdimir Imp.
I hope this helps with the frustration of naming your new pets.
