Default Answered: Why do posts get closed?

Do they expire after a certain amount of time or did I do something wrong? Please help!
Best Answer - Posted by Electrabuzz1
If a thread (not post) hasn't had any posts in over two weeks they are automatically closed.

If your thread has been closed due to 14 days of inactivity, and you would like to have it reopened, just let a member of the staff know. It's an easy thing for us to do.

Default Re: Why do posts get closed?

A thread will automatically close after two weeks of no posts.
A thread on the Help section will be closed after the poster has found the answer (they can close it themselves).
And the DCT & GEDCT close once the next day's has been posted.

If your thread has been closed due to inactivity, just red flag it and ask for a staff to re-open it.

A thread will close if it receives no new posts after fourteen days, two weeks, or if it's a thread in the "Help" section, it will close once the owner of the thread selects that they a member has successfully answered their question. If you would really like your thread to be reopened hit the red flag on the left hand side of your 1st post, and write that you'd like for the thread to be reopened.

Default Re: Why do posts get closed?

The reasons are:

1. The thread has not had any replies for over 2 weeks.
2. The topic is about something your not supposed to talk about.
3. In Somebody Help, the thread gets closed after an answer has been chosen.
4. A duplicate thread.

There are probably others too but this is what I know so far.

A thread may be closed if it is unnecessary, if there is a rule broken in it, or if it is inactive. You can PM a mod or admin if you have questions about the thread and why it was closed

You can also request that your thread be closed for these reasons:

1. The topic does not need further discussion
2. You would like to start fresh with a new thread.

Yes, they get closed due to inactivity. That is probably the reason why.
