I admit, I am new to this site and these forums. But I have read the Rules section and I have been posting in Internet forums for over 15 years and I am sort of mystified that a thread I posted to yesterday seems to have been totally deleted. I was not the "thread owner", just one of many posts to the thread, but I am still rather shocked to see the whole thread removed (which is what I assume has happened?!) rather than just any "offending" posts removed (if there were any-- I didn't note any at the time I last saw the thread). The thread seemed on topic (that is, about Webkinz) and I am just curious about why it was deleted.
It is my understanding that since I am not the Thread Owner I do not have any way to see if it was moderated (or is there a way to see if my individual post was "moderated" when a thread is deleted?). And I can sort-of see deleting a "duplicate thread" IF it is caught when just the opening poster has posted-- before there are multiple replies. It just seems a little heavy-handed and Gestapo-esque to remove everyone's published thoughts and writings once the thread has taken off-- and especially in this case because the thread had some slightly negative things to say about Ganz, so I hope I am just being paranoid in worrying that that may have had anything to do with the deletion. And hey... removing it makes it one post harder for me to move past my introductory level here. I *could* just post a lot of silly, fluffy, space-sucking posts like I have seen others do to boost my post count, but I intentionally try to post only when I have a genuine (and new) question or when I have a well thought-out response that I feel has something to add to the discussion.
Can some folks (including hopefully a moderator?) let me know under which circumstances an entire thread might be deleted? And how often does it happen? I am not a kid on summer vacation with endless and aimless time... I shouldn't waste my very limited free time posting things that some moderator is going to delete anyway. I would like to have enough information to evaluate that risk.
Here's hoping this post doesn't disappear as well.... I would PM a moderator, but it would seem I do not yet have that ability. ???
I've noticed that threads that disappear usually have un-confirmed images or content from Webkinz.... WI only allows confirmed items on their website unless you've unlocked it or it's a pic from your account which is okay. If it has not been confirmed or okayed by Ganz the thread has been known to disappear. Hope that this helps.
There are many reasons why a thread could be deleted. Can you maybe give us a summary as to what was in the thread, so that we can help you a little better. You are certainly not alone in having posts deleted. I had a thread deleted that I had 100 posts in, and it was deleted.
You cannot PM a mod yet because you have less than 10 posts, once you get over 10 you will gain the ability to PM. (Not instantly, sometimes it takes an hour or so to update in the system)...
Anyway, it depends on what the thread is.. NORMALLY threads are not deleted... if it was a question which was resolved its usually closed... it is normally deleted if it is something against the rules such as a thread which is overly rude or attacking another member, a message about banned member, or a message containing information from Ganz that has not been oficially released... such as information that was hacked from Ganz system... frequently other sites post information that was hacked and then people come over here going WOW look at what I found... that would be deleted

I just re-read your initial post and I see that you said the post was a negative post about Ganz? I guess it depends on the post... WI really doesnt censor its members unless something is getting out of hand...
