Default Unanswered: Where to begin on taking inventory??!

Hi! I could really use some advice on where to begin taking inventory. One problem is that I don't know what things are called. My kids have tons of rooms with tons of stuff in them. A lot of good stuff!! Should I drag them all to my dock to get their official name? Oh where to start....any tips appreciated.

Thanks,
Lanie91

Maybe you should check the W-shop and find out some of the items. Then the items that you can't find make 1 big thread saying what they look like and stuff and see if anybody can help!

I would go room to room, one by one, and take out everything you are willing to trade. Put it in your dock and work from there. Write each item on a piece of paper as you put it back into a storage room (or 2 or 3 depending on what you have). You could do one for PSIs, one for exclusives, and one for rares. Good luck and don't get overwhelmed!

Actually rather than making 1 big thread saying what they look like, really all you need to do is put the item in your dock and put your mouse over it and it will tell you the name, then you can put the item back in your room where it came from

Also Lanie dont forget, when making your TRADE list, the items you can include are limited and you should only include what you want to trade, not anything that you want to keep... i wasnt sure if you were doing an entire inventory list or just your draft trading list so I figured I would just mention that

Also the WIGEV will be very helpful, you can look through there for a listing of everything by category and what items are worth etc

I like both of these suggestions, but I would add to start out small, with a few things that you want to definitely trade with a list of definite wants for them. That way, you won't be so overwhelmed! Good luck, and congratulations on becoming gifted!

The link above is really great, it has all the pictures of everything and is a good place to start without taking them all out of your rooms. Hope it helps you.

I went room by room and pulled out everything I did not want and at the same time wrote down things I would like in the room so I know what I want to start collecting.

Once it is in your dock, I do what legalcat suggested, hover over the item. I opened up Notes (or Word), made it small, moved my webkinz screen to the left, my notes page to the right. From there you can click on the notes page but then just hover over the items on the dock. Don't actually click on the webkinz page because since your note page is active, you should be able to type the item name, move your mouse to the next item on the dock, type it in, move your mouse to the next item, type it in, etc.... Eventually you will have to click on the webkinz screen to see your other items. Just make sure you click on your notes screen again to activate it.

One last thing and I know it's a bit expensive (kc wise) but I bought two Wcares pet (got it for $5) and opened up two other accounts. One for Trade Items and one for Foods/PSFs collection. I just sent everything I did not want to the the Trade account (if you don't already have a Asian and Europeon account, it's a good time to make them since you really won't be playing on those two accounts). It takes alot of shipping cost and time (depending on how many items you have) but it really cleans up the accounts. I have 5 main accounts, one for me and one for each child. Whenever they have something they don't want, they send it to the Trade account and they let me know what they are looking for. When I adopt a pet and get an item I don't want, off it goes!

I know it cost alot of kc to do this but I figured I can play games to make up the cost. It has saved me loads of time and worry about where my items are and what items I have available.

Anyway, there are lots of ways to do things so just find the right one for you.... I tend to complicate things.

Don't forget the WIGEV has pictures of all the things.

What I did was go through each room and write down my inventory in each. Then I removed items I wanted to trade. When I was in the GT program, like you are, I put all my trading items in 2 rooms. Ones I could trade in the GT and ones for when I graduated. It makes it a lot simpler when you get up to the big GE.

Azriel's way is great! I use one of my accounts in a similar fashion, all my Seasonal stuff in 1 accounts, all floors and walls in another, then the rest in my main account.
