It's kind of fun. It's like writing a story. Except you play one character and add on to the story and someone else is another character who also adds on to the story. You can make your own roleplay or roleplay from something existing like Harry Potter. If I were to roleplay Harry from Harry Potter, I could write anything I wanted. Like this:
"Harry wiped his shaggy black hair out of his emerald green eyes and scanned the Quiddich arena for the golden ball that would win him the game."
And then someone else could be playing another Harry Potter character (ex: Draco Malfoy, Harry's enemy) and they'd add their own piece like this:
"Draco saw Harry through his expecting black eyes, hoping beyond possible hope that his broom would short circuit and Draco would be the one laughing at the sprawled figure of the Gryffindor seeker below."
And it would go back and forth like that with as many or as little characters as needed. Sorry for the lame example. Hope it helps though.
This post pretty much sums it up, except for the fact you're NOT allowed to play real characters from books. That would mean too much argument.
