Say I found this picture on Example Web Page --->

I want to use it! So I just copy down www.example.com/smileyface and I paste it into an IMG code. I didn't upload it to Tinypic, this is the image directly from Example Web Page

For example, instead of using...
Code:
[img]www.tinypic.com/fHed83v(this is not a real image so don't bother trying to see if it is)[/img]
I would do...
Code:
 [img]www.example.com/smileyface[/img]
Hope I cleared things up for you.

Here's my best explanation:
Hot-linking is when you post a picture and it has to have permission, or you are not allowed to use it. Like, you copy and paste some type of image... that isn't supposed to be posted. Some sites that you can post are TinyPic, PhotoBucket etc.
I hope someone posts a better explanation than me!

From the rules in the A/S section...

We do not allow hotlinking on WI. When you see a graphic on here or any other website, that image is hosted somewhere and uses that site's "bandwidth" to display the graphic. If you copy the link location of a graphic then paste it in your post as an image, you're using the other site's bandwidth to display it on WebkinzInsider. This is called hotlinking (also called "stealing bandwidth"). This can sometimes cause performance issues for both websites.

And FIA's sticky thread on the subject.

In short, you can't just click "Copy" on a picture and then "Paste" it into your post.

You have to go to tinypic, photobucket, imageshack, ect... and copy the IMG Code for the picture and not the actual picture.
