Question Unanswered: What Were "Election" Type Contests? Please explain!

"12. No more "Election" type Contests are allowed, We are sorry but there has been way too much chaos created in the open forums for us to allow this anymore. No more contests where members are required to post outside of the threads in the Galore section are allowed. It just creates too much extra work for mods, creates overly competitive entries/comments and there was just way too many threads popping up at the same time."

This is rule number 12 from the contests rules and guidelines thread. What were the "Election" type contests, and what were the problems with them? Please explain - ???

Thanks!

Elections ran just like a real election,
they had a campaign they would run and then after a week or so they would put up a poll and everyone would vote who they thought should win.

It was fun in the begining but then it got a little out of hand as mentioned.
