This is a fabulous question. I too sometimes wonder. It also seems to depend on when you are posting - what day of the week and what time. If the forum is quite busy, sometimes your thread is "lost" among the other threads if everyone is creating new ones at the same time. However, if the forum is busy, sometimes there are more people to find your thread and comment on it.
It also depends on what section you are posting in, I believe. The Help section is always the toughest, as so many of the questions are the same. I think if you post a thread/new topic that has a wide appeal to people who are experience in Webkinzworld and to people who are new, then you will have a "good shot".
I'm off to read that guide that everyone is suggesting!

I think help threads like these are most popular. There's also contest threads that draw a lot of attention. Why don't you look at the more popular threads and find out why others go to them? Do they draw your eye?
