Default Unanswered: UPDATED!!! 10 x 10 rooms and hanging pictures on the walls in those rooms.

I have not seen this addressed, but maybe it already has been asked and answered. I have about 25 rooms, in all different sizes. I also have a bunch of posters and paintings and assorted wall candy that I am not sure what to do with, so until I figure it out, I hang it all my walls and just buy a lot of spackle for the nail holes made when I have to move items around. I have three 10 x 10 rooms devoted to storage alone, and that is where I first noticed this glitch. This is my problem- in my 7 x 7 rooms, the walls that have doors in them have the doors in the middle of the wall. You have three spaces on one side of the door and three spaces on the other side of the door that you can use to hang all the lovely accumulated wall stuff you have acquired during your forays into trading card collecting. The door, of course, takes up one space. However, in my 10 x 10 rooms, in the walls with doors in them, there are four spaces to one side of the door, and 5 spaces on the other side of the door, with the door taking up one square. I can get five single sized posters or an assortment of singles and doubles equaling 5 on the 5 square side, but on the 4 square side, I can only get three items to hang. Why? Does anyone else have this problem? I am not sure about anyone else, but I am chronically short of wall space, and can really use the extra spaces.

Yes you are right. You can't hang a picture on the hinge side of doors in large rooms. Medium and small rooms don't have this idiosyncrazy. I don't know why it is so, but I would assume that it's the same for everyone. It is annoying as it wastes a storage spot.

You know... I *have* noticed this, but I didn't connect it to the large rooms. I just knew that sometimes it worked that way and sometimes it didn't, and didn't give it much thought beyond that.

Thank you for posting this

I understand where you are concerned.

When you think about it, a 7 x 7 and a 5 x 5 room both are odd numbers, making the door right in the middle with equal space on each side. They didn't add an extra space to put the door there.

A 10 x 10 sized room, on the other hand, is an even number so where does the door go? It would be in the middle if it where an 11 x 11 sized room. But since its a 10 x 10 sized room, the door goes on square 4, 5, or 6. (I forgot which.)

I don't know why you can't hang a picture there but I have the same problem. But I think it has to do with the fact that the door isn't in the middle of the room. It may be a glitch, but at the same time, it may not be.

Hope I helped!!

I've noticed that before, and been annoyed by it before, but it's just one of those things....

Perhaps the best thing to do is ask Ganz. I know I get so frustrated trying to decorate around the doors. It s real possibility that no one has ever brought it to their attention. That and the fact that so many of the articles hang too high or too low or it cuts into the wainscot.

I'm so glad you posted this! I have noticed it as well in my large storage rooms (some I have made simply because I need the wall space!) Wouldn't it be lovely if Ganz would create programming to allow you to put more than one item on the wall...say if one hangs up high, and one hangs lower? I think this might be a good problem to post in the new WIki section under the Webkinz World Glitch report section! That way some Ganz folks might see and address the issue. I would love to have those spaces available as well!

Pumpernickel is right about the rooms having an even number of squares on each side needing the door to be off center, as you need an odd number of squares in order to have the door right in the middle. However, have you ever noticed that the side the door is off center on is different on opposite sides of the room? For example, in my outdoor yard, the door is to the left of center on the side closest to the bottom of the screen, and it is right of center on the side closest to the top. Same for left and right sides. I think the reason for this has to do with the perspective of the room (it being on an angle and looking like the things at the top are farther away than the things on the bottom). In order to give the 2 dimensional picture the depth of a 3 dimensional object, the room has to be skewed somewhat to keep it all in proportion.

It does pose some definite decorating dilemmas, but I don't think there is any way around it.

I just had a nice conversation with my new BFF Deanna from Ganz. I called her regarding a problem with not getting my POTM gift. I also brought up this issue with the door and hanging pictures. She could not help me at the time, but said she would call back. As I hung up, I figured that was the last I would hear from her! Well, I was wrong, she called me back- OMG, I was so excited. . She left a message (see my other post regarding my POTM conversation http://www.webkinzinsider.com/forum/...on-box-560119/) and I called her back this morning. She told me to ask for her, which I did, and I was connected to her right away. She remembered our conversation, and said she would put my POTM item in my dock, and if I logged out and back in it would be there. It was. She also said that my problems with hanging items were universal, and that all 10 x 10 rooms had the door in the same position, and that is why the doors are not across from each other. If you stood in a 10 x 10 room and looked at each wall, the door is off center to the left. She also said that the designers had designed it so that on door walls, you will only be able to use 8 of the 9 available spaces. I tested each of my 10 x 10 rooms, and in no room was I allowed to put more 8 items on a door wall. On a non-door wall, you can use all 10 spaces. Deanna said that this was not going to change or be corrected. I guess we have to live with it. I have reduced my doors to two per room by adding rooms in a spiral pattern, rather than side by side.

Oh well, we tried.
