I use SnagIt9 which allows me to record what I do on the computer as an animated gif. Most screen shots are used by selecting the PrntScrn (print screen) button and then pasting into Paint. This program does screen shots and a bunch of other stuff. Ever wonder how people post a how-to video with the mouse clicking as a demo? Really cool but it's $50 for a license. I love it though and use it all the time.
Otherwise, you would do a series of print screens, crop out the part you want and then go to lunapic or other website that will allow you to put a bunch of pictures together in a slideshow (saved as gif, not movie file). You may have to do alot of screen shots and then put the motions in the right order, the scrolling photos will look like movement (just like making a cartoon). Have fun and remember, the more you work on it, the better you will get!
I remember reading on a thread somewhere a website where you can make videos. I saved the link for the website, but I never actually got around to downloading it. Here's the link: CamStudio - Free Screen Recording Software
