Default Answered: Spyware?

A popup said this might might give you spyware or adware (forgot the name sorry) and it said Block or Allow. I clicked on Allow, and I was wondering, what is this problem?

The general rule about pop-up ads is DON'T! Don't click on them... try to close them without choosing any of their choices. Some of these ads will actually install spyware on your computer, and it doesn't matter if you clicked yes or no. Make sure you have a good anti-virus program.

This happens to me a lot. It's perfectly fine. As long as you have a virus protection program installed on your computer. This happens more with Internet Expolar I've noticed. Sites like WI don't work well with Internet Expolar. I would switch to Google Chrome or Fire Fox. These pop ups decrise a ton. Hope this helped!

Andy, you really need to give us more information. Spyware can be a serious infection in your computer, especially if it's not protected. Even virus protection like McAfee or Norton don't always scan for spyware, which (in worse case scenarios) can give information about your computer, accounts, passwords, or even credit cards to malicious sites and persons.

If the pop-up was from your browser, like Webberlily said, click [X] instead of one of the choices. If it was from a program you know is on the computer, like Norton, click [BLOCK]. If you don't know, or aren't sure, ask the person who owns the computer. Never, ever click [ALLOW] if you don't know what you are being asked, it could compromise the security of your computer.

I recommend switching from IE to a more secure browser, such as Firefox (somewhat more secure) or Chrome (much more secure, for now). Also, ask the person who owns the computer to go to The home of Spybot-S&D! and download Spybot S&D. It is a free program that runs a very thorough search targeted directly for spyware and adware. It catches many things a standard virus scan will not (since many spyware programs are not viruses), and if you accidentally allowed something you shouldn't have, it will find and fix it.

DO NOT CLICK ON ANY CHOICES, FOR FUTURE REFERANCE
As sometimes, viruses are disguised as these ads. Try to close out of it without clicking on any of the choices! MAKE SURE your anti-virus software is up to date and working at all times too. ANY pop ups can carry viruses, so please try not to click on them!

Just don't click on any ADs.
You could get a virus and your computer has to have protection from that.
