in the bottom right corner there will be a magnafining(not spelled right) glass and a number next to it. see if the number says 100%(that is the screen size) if it does not say 100% then click on it and you will be able to change the size.

i don't know if that is the right thing to do because i did not understand your question that much.

I don't use IE8 a lot, but right click the menu or command bar, and you'll get a list of stuff you can "turn off" by unchecking them. Get rid of the menu bar, favorites, and command bars -- they truly eat up some screen real estate.

You can also get rid of the status bar the same way (that's the bottom of the screen). That should leave your IE pretty naked.

Furthermore, you can play with tab settings to get rid of tabbed browsing entirely; that takes up the remaining screen space. Go to Tools, Internet Options, at the bottom of the General tab, and click on "Tab Settings", then just click the first box to disable tabs entirely.

i use morzilla firefox. if you just drag the screen bigger by the sides, or just keep changing places in ww, and sometimes the screen goes up a bit! it doesn't work always, but you can give it a try. if it works i is still temporary. it happens to me too.
