Hi everyone, I am very new here and I have heard about reputation points. I know how and why to award them to other people and I know you can get them yourself but what can you actually do with them? Do you get prizes or something else? Thanks for all your help!
Yeah, you get happiness, however if you get enough reps, you get more green boxes under your avvie, and eventually light green and gold ones. But the most important thing is how great you feel when you get one.
No, you don't win a prize but you get boxes like: to show how helpfull to other users and you get no pirze unless you can't the boxes and the good fealing you get for helping someone who needed help or something simular.
Welcome to Webkinzinsider! When you get reputation, it's a simple thank you and a pat on the back. You also get little green boxes under your avatar. It's one of those things that is a little extra thank you to those who are helpful, and it is very exciting to earn a new box. Another thing is you can see how much progress you have made on the site. I know I can look back and remember when I only had a couple rep points. Now, I can look and see all that I have learned, and all of that info that I have passed along to others.
Also, just so that you know, we are not supposed to type in the bright red color, because it reserved for the administrators of the site. It's no biggie though, we've all done that a couple times.
To leave reputation for someone, go under their avatar with their stats, join date, number of posts, gifts, etc. and you'll see a couple of boxes. One has a thumbs up sign, the other is the flag, to notify a moderator if someone posts something against the protocols. (Rude, bad language, etc.) The thumbs up sign is to give that person reputation points. You click on it. A box comes up, and it has you made a short comment. Then you click on a box to add the reputation. The comment is sent to the person's control panel. If you have reputation given to you, you can go to your control panel and see the last 10-20 items sent to you. The date, title of the post it was for, the person sending and their comment all show there.
It's strictly a "feel good" thing. Nice to reward helpful people though. I send rep points all the time, when I'm reading a post I think is particularly helpful, or when someone asks a thoughtful question, does something nice, etc.
A gift coach once gave me one for being especially helpful to a new trader in the Training Gift Exchange--that really made me feel great!
There is a thumb icon right next to the "Reputation" area on each user's post bit.
To add to a person's ‘Reputation’, click on the thumbs up icon. A ‘Reputation’ text area will open and you can type your reason for thanking the user.
If you're helpful on the forum, we're sure you'll get them very shortly if you don't already have them! Don't forget to give them out!!
Checking who added to your reputation
You can check your (15) most recent additions by clicking "UserCP" at the top of the forum. It will bring up a list of the last 15 people that have contributed to your reputation.
I don't have any, can you give me some?
We don't allow begging of any kind here on WI, and that includes begging for Reputation. We've already taken the system away to change it because of constant begging and we don't want to have to remove it altogether. Spend some time here, help a few people out and people will give them to you on their own accord.
Can I offer Reputation to encourage people to answer my threads?
NO. We've seen a lot of this and the problem comes when someone forgets to give those promised reputation and people start posting "Why didn't you give me the reputation?" or ask us why someone didn't follow through. People will answer your thread, faster than you even imagined. If you get an answer that helps, feel free to give them reputation, but no offers anymore, PLEASE! Also, no "I only need x more reputation, please help me" threads. Any threads or posts the offer/beg for reputation will be deleted.
