Default Unanswered: Question about Forum Rules??!!

Hi everyone!! I have a question about a rule here at WI, and Im not really sure that it is written in stone, but I am curious about this...

I have a thread in the Thats sooo Posh section where we do room designs for people (It is in my siggie). Lately, a couple of other people have opened Shoppes in that section, which I think is great!! The more there the merrier, right? However, I have noticed that some of these threads are copied off of mine. And Im not talking that they just took my words from me, but some have used the same font, color, size, everything! Don't get me wrong, I have no problem helping out a fellow WI and letting them use the same forms (for rooms) as we do or helping them out if they need it. But it really bothers me when I see a thread that looks just like mine! I had to work hard on my thread to get it to where it is at now, and I would think that they would want to be unique and create their own words/texts/etc....

I am just curious about the rules of things like this here at WI. Is there actually a rule for something like this? I had contacted a Mod the first time I saw it happened and that Mod took care of it for me. However, it keeps happening and I don't want to bother them with things like this. I understand they have better things to deal with here on WI. Just wondering if there is anyone out there that knows anything about this? Or if it has happened to anyone else before?

Thanks so much for reading this. And I want to be clear, that I am in no way pointing out anyone in this situation. Like I said before, I have no problem helping out a fellow Webkinz Insider member, just curious about rules and such having to do with this. I just don't want to be the one who is accused for copying and my thread ends up getting closed.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this novel (LOL) Any help will be appreciated

Oh goodness. I have no idea about that in the rules section... hmmm first let me say I know that people do things like that and so much more!! (I was in the clubhouse and someone was chatting with me and put the very same clothing items on their pet as were on mine and followed me around No JOKE).... while imitation is seen as a form of flattery it can be a little cold and manipulative! Let me say that I love your avvie and signature... I have no plans to copy! hehehe.
I think you might be hard pressed to truly find a concrete rule in regards to this. I hope that it gets resolved because I do not believe that this should continue to happen! After all you put in the time and effort to come up with designs to help folks like me... only for some one to well in essence steal... I mean in the real world your ideas...drawings all that is yours! Perhaps WI needs a faux legal system... and people can copyright their stuff!!!!
Good luck at finding a peacable resolution! Best wishes.

If a mod has said that it was against the rules before, just let them know again Or just flag the posts if necessary.

Becky: the only rule that applies is:

NO RUDENESS OR BAD BEHAVIOR - WI is a community about Webkinz for everyone to have fun. Please respect your fellow members and treat them as you would like to be treated yourself!

Which doesn't really help you a lot

You may want to repost your question in the WI Rules & Suggestions section and a moderator will likely answer you.

If it bothers you and seems unfair then don't feel bad about flagging it - if it's happening to you then likely it's happening to others.

You could always take it as a compliment...

I'm sure that plagiarism is against the rules. I would put a notice near the top of your shop saying "My original design, please do not copy" and keep on flagging any copycats so that a mod can deal with them. You are fully entitled to protect your work! You have a beautiful thread, I just had a look at it.

No it is def. against the rules to copy another thread (esp. when its exactly the same!)--if they do they need your permission if you had started it and they need to credit you first thing on their first post

If you noticed something clearly copied from you, let someone know.

I actually had someone steal my exact signiture picture before. Just report it...

But if it is the idea of the thread you are talking about... not sure if that would be considered copying.
