"Help me! Webkinz isn't working for me! Everytime I try to log on, I keep getting the "green screen". What do I do? Thanks for the help"

POST #2, or 3, or... you know what i mean.

"Um, I am sorry, I don't know." ETC.

It is kind of tiring when I, or someone else, needs help and people just put something like that.. why do people do that? and doesn't it bug you too?
Great question!

I can tell you only ONE reason why, and it may clear this up for you.
Back when WI first started we had to post in a thread to subscribe...
Interesting thought. For anyone who doesn't know (I'm sure YOU know Dixiecup ) You can subscribe to a thread without posting in it. Just click on the "Thread tools" button at the top of the first post and click on "subscribe to thread."

That's an interesting answer. If I did that, though, I'd probably say that I was bumping the thread to the top so that hopefully someone else would see it and answer.

LOL! EXCELLENT answer!

I have a similar question:

Why do people post the SAME EXACT answer as someone else in that thread, and do it over and over again? I understand if they have something to add, and I understand someone saying "I agree with what so and so said, try that." so that people know that more than one person agrees with that suggestion. But why continue to say the exact same thing over and over again? I find it irritating. It makes me think that:
  1. They're not reading the thread before replying (which is NOT a good way to help because more information may have been added about the issue.)
  2. They're trying to increase their post count.
  3. They want to pretend to know the answer so they copy one that looks good to them.
  4. They're trying to increase their "non fluff posts" so they copy other people's good posts and hope that the mods won't notice when reviewing them for the Training GE.

-My cynical hypotheses

I wonder why people do that too. As other member have already said they do it to get a higher post count. They probably do that because on Gingerly's guide to become a Gift Trainee(Click Here) it says to post in the Somebody Help Section. They think that just because they post something here they will become Gift Trainee faster but, the truth is they won't. Whenever I look at a thread and don't know how to help them I just look at another thread.

A lot of people just like to increase their post count, so they post on every thread they see, even if the post they are making isn't very useful. They might also want to post so that they can find out the answer, so they post on it to remember to go back for the answer.

Hmm.... I don't know...

Just kidding!
I think it is because people want the thread creator to know that they cared enough to post.

Good question...I wonder that myself.
My only guess is for post count. Because that's the only thing I can think of!
People should not do that..As it makes no sense. If they wanted more posts they should go to the DCT - not spam up help threads.

People do it for more post numbers... and to be able to say that they 'always' help the people in the Someone Help! Forum.

People post "I don't know etc..." for all the wrong reasons.

Most questions asked in the forum, have an answer that's fairly easy to find. The truly helpful thing to do would be to look up the answer, then post it. Most answers can be found in the FAQ, in the Rules, or by using the Search function. A bit of familiarity with the forum will let you know where the most commonly used Guides are. They are not hidden, but are stickied at the top of the various forum pages, in a logical manner.
