Default Re: My dog ate my webkinz.

I'm not sure if you have tried this, but you can purchase "bitter orange" from the pet stores. Its got a horrible taste if animals try to bite/lick/eat something. Worked great for us when we were trying to train our puppy. I would test it on a "non-webbie" first, though, just to be certain it does not stain the fabric. We've even used it for a cat that liked to eat shoe laces!
Its inexpensive, and really does work. I think trying that, along with some of the other members suggestions, and you'll have your dog trained in no time that the Webbies are yours.

And a tip for the "kong" suggestion: Fill the bottom hole with peanut butter so it acts like a stopper. Then pour some left over soup juice inside the kong. Fill the top hole with peanut butter to block the other end. Put in the freezer over night. The next day when you have to leave for work/school, put the kong someplace your dog usually goes. When your dog finds it, they'll have a awesome treat that they have to work on for hours to get the reward. It's amazing how intent your dog will be on that frozen kong treat!

Hope the suggestions help. Good luck!

Kittyfantastic, I loved reading your post. I laughed so much, then had to read it to my hubby.

As far as webbie eating dogs, i have one too... but we discovered the nature's Miracle version of bitter Apple at the pet store. Our dog has stopped getting webbies, shoes and into the garbage. Now we're working on getting him to leave our Laundry alone. He likes it too and knows it gets washed so the Dog Spray goes away when it's clean. Dumb Dog. Actually Smart but Frustrating Dog!!

Thats horrible! Put your dog in a room with nothing in it for the night, or put your webkinz in a spot were the dog won't get them

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. All webbies have been either hidden in drawers or placed up high so he has no access to them. I wouldn't care that he wants to chew them, but the beads are the problem. I won't crate my dog because he has learned to use his doggie door and it would defeat the purpose. We got rid of the crate 3.5 years ago when we moved into this apartment. He sleeps in my bed. I never punish him, unless I catch him in the act - he wouldn't understand why I am upset. He likes to chew things... unfortunately, he does not like toys from the petstore. I have tried almost all toys. I would buy him anything he wanted. He's my baby. We go for walks all the time, a few times a day. We play chase around the house.
