Default Unanswered: Make sure you give people rep!!!!

I have been noticing a lot lately that people are not giving others rep!! I am not trying to be mean or anything but if you post a thread and someone was really helpful then you should give them rep! You just have to take 5 minutes out of your day to give people rep!

I posted a smiliar reminder a few days ago when I noticed people with 1,000 + posts had only one rep box. I was told that perhaps they aren't real helpful or hang out in the forums that wouldn't earn rep points. Although that sounds possible you would still think someone who posts 1,000.00 + posts would have at least 51 helpful posts earning 2 boxes.
I also think we tend to forget and need to be reminded. Thanks for the reminder, I'll make sure I do my part today.

It depends. Some of those folks with thousands of posts get their posts by chatting... role playing, open mike, contests, etc.

I actually got my second rep box the same day that I made my 1000th post. And I spend the majority of my time in Somebody Help! and General Discussion. A loooot of people who ask for help never offer feedback. I think, most times, it's because they don't even know it exists. A good number of the posts in this forum are from newer members/"lil kinz."

You should never expect a rep point though. Help because you want to, not because you want rep. And keep in mind that it's against the rules to ask for or offer rep points on any thread.

I dont think it is even 5 minutes, let alone one minute. I never used to give rep, but now I give it a lot more. But what makes you think people arent giving others rep as much? If its because they arent saying they are giving rep doesn't mean they dont give it.
Bonsai thats now I got a lot of my posts. And you are so right, people should never expect rep.

A good chunk of my posts are posting answers in the HELP! section of the forum (this section) and yet I'm unknown and have (just recently got another star) three silver stars. I also work in an avvie/siggy shop and a help i need a pet name shop. I dont think people always give rep points, which is dissapointing if they help you or make something for you when they really didnt have to.

It took me about 2000 posts to get that second box. I had already been accepted into the gifted program, so I know I had my 50 posts that were helpful.

It seems to me that if 2 people answer a questions, the asker is more inclined to give rep to someone who already has a couple boxes. I think it is because if you have a whole bunch of boxes, they stick out, and it reminds people to give rep. I don't know if that really makes sense, but pretty much people are unknowingly bias towards people who are already established.

I noticed this to be true in my own experience. The first box to get was so hard, and with my helpful post to reputation ratio, I would have never guessed I would have gotten a lime green box, but I did.

Also, how do you know that people are not giving rep anymore? I know many people have been discussing that they have maxed out how many rep points they have given a day.
