Ever since I got my laptop it was slow.
So I called tech support & asked them about something & they fixed it.. (so on).
So like.. one time it was so slow everything kept crashing. So, I opened Task Manager.
GUESS WHAT. I had like 1800 Processes going on. O:
Do any of you know whats happening? How can I fix it?!
ITS SOO SLOW.
EDIT: The type of laptop is Lenovo R500.
Just in case that helps. (:
I had a Dell Inspiron and it worked fine. But then my charger malfunctioned and I started using a Macbook Air instead. It's been slow and annoying ever since.
I do think that it's the server that is having issues and not the computer, but who knows?
Sorry it's so slow for you.
Rebooting should clean out most of the extra processes. Do you shut down each night or just leave the computer in sleep mode? Mine gets left in sleep mode most of the time but I try and make sure I reboot at least once a week or a bit more often if it is acting up.
My laptop is currently running 57!!
Reboot your computer
Do you have any instant messanger's taking up space? I know Skype takes a lot of memory usage if you have it. It's always working....
Your internet network may be a fraction of the problem.
Do you have anti-virus? I would run a sweep.
Turn it off and leave it for a little while....come back to it later (hour or so) and turn it back on.
Also, try not to have too many screens open at once...it'll slow your computer down alot!
1800? Maybe your computer is not deleting all the processes that it doesn't need/are completed? I don't really know that much, but I do know that 1800 is A LOT
Try re-booting it a couple of times, getting a knew charger, and checking the owner's manual =/
I have a fix. . .
One of the interesting[STUPID] things about Dells is the 'taskbar' and 'minimize to task bar' feature.
Those extra applications are iconized in the taskbar, making them hard to see. By right-clicking on them and closing them, you can speed up your computer.
Alternatively, using the task manager, close some not-needed processes (AOL software, AIM, sync error, etc. etc.) That speeds up your computer. In addition, by going START >> COMPUTER, you can see how much RAM and memory you have. Try uninstalling useless applications (START >> CONTROL PANEL >> UNINSTALL/INSTALL A PROGRAM) to speed it up.
b suer to have a great anti-virus/spy program. I just updated to avg and it cleaned mine right up. Be sure to clean the cache and I would alo go to microsoft.com and click on for updates automatically and turn the machine off every night.
