I've won it twice, and my son once after I gave him a suggested range. I started by using the guide first mentioned, but after a while I got a bit lazy on the math, and traced the jar on the screen onto a piece of paper. Then every time I got an "Ooh that was close", I'd mark it on the paper along with my guess. After a while I got quite a reliable guide. Now I only have to hold up the paper to the screen and see which mark is the closest, which gives me a pretty good guess. I usually get an "Ooh that was close on my first guess"; then I get two more tries. I'm hoping I get another one so I can get the badge. That is, if they ever fix that particular game...
The game is broken right now, but my son won it once when I gave him a range of fifty to pick within, I won it once and my wife won it twice. The find your jar page is very helpful. My first win was using the guide here on WI, find your jar was key for the last three.
