Aww, that's terrible! Try adding symbols (such as *%&) and numbers to common or uncommon words (t %.e$.d&d@.345.y). Also try using inside jokes that few or no people know about (I don't have any at the moment). I really hope that the person gets caught
This is just me but, I only become friends on webkinz with people I actually know just to ensure my account safety... I know I would feel horrible if someone did that to me but just wait it out, call ganz, and try to feel better.
This is exactly why I'm afraid to make friends in the Arcade. People ask and if I say "no" they quit playing with me. It is hard to say if someone is nice or not from just the arcade. Usually, if someone is in my "friends" list that isn't really a person I know in real life, I delete them. I just don't want to risk losing everything I have built up. You can still play with people and chat...I just don't extend my friend's list. We learned the hard way when my daughter was saying "Yes" to being friends and then her exclusives started going missing over several days. I deleted all of her "friends" and changed her pass word and we haven't lost anything since.
So Sorry this happened to you! You can check from your kinzpost and see who has used your kinzpost and sent the items to themselves. Maybe you will know the person and if there isn't any there that you didn't do it would have to be a glitch and maybe you will get them back when it is corrected. Hope you do get them back...
Unfortunately there is no way to see which items you sent by kinzpost, only what you have received. I have suggested to Ganz that they add an outbox feature so that you can see what items have been sent from your account.
Did your friend know your password? That just goes to show you can't trust ANYONE...
I'm very sorry to hear about that. Some people are so cruel...but at least he deleted you so now he can't steal anything else!!
My account got hacked! They stole most of my cool items in my Easter room. My sherbert bunny chair, lil' lamb bed, cotton candy bunny trampoline, and my duck bathtub. How can people do this?! Now my little Easter webbies are so upset. I changed my password. Can you gove me more advice?
The first thing you need to ask yourself is this: how many people knew your user name and password
The next is: how strong was your password?
The last thing you need to ask is: how can I make my password stronger so that this can not happen again?
Here are some tips:
Make sure your password is alpha-numerical. This means that you should have both letters and numbers. Do NOT use the same password for everything. NEVER use just your name and birthday. Use something not many people would know about you for example your parents birthday and your first pet. Mix up the order. What do I mean by that? Here is an example:
Say your mother's birthday is August 17, 1967
Now your first pet's name is Fluffy
You can do: augfluffy67, 08fluffy1967, 17fluffy867, 17augfluffy1967, 19fluffy17aug1967
Mix it up, but always use both letters and numbers. Why? Well the bad guys out there have hack software that can break passords that are just letters pretty quickly, but it takes a lot longer to break ones with both. So much of a difference that they will give up on you and move on to another one. Another way to hack is just to talk to you and get the basic information most people use to make passwords, like your birthday or your current pet, or favorite spot...
I am sure you know to never voluntarily give out your password, even Ganz will not ask you for it when you call them, they will only ask for one of your pet codes.
Sorry this has happened to you. It happened to me once with an email account I had. I was able to get back into it and I obtained THEIR information and turned them into authorities. Too bad Ganz does not have software hooked up to their system that will log in the ISP address when the account is logged into. That would make it traceable to authorities.
Again, take care and know that you can take some steps here to help preven it from happening again.
I'm very sorry to hear your account was hacked. *Webbie Hugs* I'm afraid I can't provide any help, but recommend doing as the other members have suggested.
I also think it's bad business practise that Ganz cannot restore stolen items - Especially if you have some sort of proof of who would be responsible.
As such...Ganz must have a way of tracking who those items were traded/sent to. Let's say for instance you Rare Easter items were sent to or traded for some corn or strawberries...That right there would be suspicious enough in my eyes for the transaction to be reversed. I guess Ganz just doesn't want to boggle down the tech support guys? You would think with the $$$$ they make with all our pets that it be possible...but alas it is not reality
