Hey I am sooooo sorry for you. Everyone has their panicky "OMG IM GONNA GET IN SO MUCH TROUBLE!" moments. (Some, including me, more than others, lol). When something like that happens to me, the only way to get through it is to rationalize; what has happened has happened, and it stinks that you can't change it, but it is true. Everything has a set course, and you accidentally set an unfortunate chain of events in order, so just calm down. It is unavoidable. When your mom comes home, I would tell her the truth. Keep in mind telling her is totally up to you, that is just me. I know that my mom always appreciates it when I am honest, and if I am calm, then she will most likely be calm with me also. Now you don't necessarily have to tell her about the fire, but she might get angry if you don't tell her a good reason why you opened the window. I would tell her the fire part, too, if she asks you why you opened the window. What better reason to open a window than because of smoke? Tell her you were afraid the fire alarm would go off, that's not untruthful at all. If you decide to tell her the truth and she is mad at first, I would start off your explanation by telling her that you are going to be completely honest with what happened because you know that telling the truth is better because if you don't, it will get you in the end. Tell her you're very sorry. I am sure she will understand. My mom does; she knows that I learn from making mistakes. Every time I do something wrong, I am able to hold myself to a higher standard later.
That is just what I would do! But no matter what you choose to tell your mom, you should really relax. Life DOES go on, believe me. In like a month you coould probably look back on this and laugh...what a catastrophe! You just have to come to realize that these things happen, and you can't really change them. That's what life's all about. Make the best of it!
Hope this helps. Cheer up! And bundle up, too, BRR!
