Usually that's an option while you are pasting after copying the text.
You may need to copy the text you want from it's website to a Word program first, to fix the white that is always showing up behind your text, before you can paste it in your blog:
In Word, you will have 3 "Paste" options with your copied web text:
Paste Keep Source Formatting - text will appear exactly as on original site, colors and all, including what's behind it, if anything (in your case, white). This is usually the default "Paste" option, so you may have to look for these other ones.
Paste Merge Formatting - the font will be the same, but in black only, with background removed.
Paste Keep Text Only - just like it says, the text will be there but the background will not, and if you don't have that font in Word, the font will change too.
Merge Formatting should be the one, if I have understood your problem correctly.
